Men’s Health, and how to make your Life Better.

Men’s Health

Men’s Health and Women’s Health have different needs. Men require more of some nutrients and less of others compared to women and many are deficient. However, a daily multivitamin can help bridge that gap. Vitamins are essential to your overall health. They perform many critical roles in your body, from producing energy to ensuring proper function of bodily systems. Men aged 19–70 need to make sure to get enough of the following vitamins and minerals: Vitamin A, Vitamin C, B vitamins, vitamin D, vitamin K, zinc, Vitamin E and selenium. Additionally, saw palmetto is also beneficial to over 45 men.

Vitamins for Men’s Health

I will not briefly go into each supplement above in more detail and provide links to products if you need help finding quality supplements. Additionally, every link that I post will be made in the USA. How much of these that you need will depend on your gender, weight, and age; so check with your dietitian for the dosage specific to you.

This is A LOT of vitamins to buy individually, and probably a pain to take 8 pills a day just for the essentials. I went and found a Men’s Multivitamin that has every single vitamin here all together.

Vitamin A

Vitamin A (retinol) is pretty remarkable. It helps with your vision, reproduction, growth, and help with your immune system. Found in green, red, or yellow vegetables (plus carrots). If you’re looking to get it in a more concentrated form (if you’ve got some catching up to do) here is a link to some high quality Vitamin A Supplements.

Vitamin C and Zinc

Vitamin C is an antioxidant and helps hunt down “free radicals” inside your body that are attacking healthy cells. Zinc helps the immune system by making proteins that fight off bacteria and viruses. Here is a Zinc-C Supplement (both together).

Vitamin B’s

The Vitamin B Complex (all the B’s) help you get or make energy from the foods you eat in different ways. If you’re fatigued this could be something you want to look into. The best way to go about it is getting them all together like in this Vitamin B Complex supplement.

Vitamin D

Everybody knows that calcium is for bone health. However what most people don’t know is that your body can only absorb calcium when Vitamin D is present. Meaning if you don’t have Vitamin D, you cannot get calcium. This makes Vitamin D, in a way, even more important to bone health than calcium. Found a Cal-Mag Vitamin D Supplement for you.

Vitamin E

Just like vitamin A, vitamin E helps with your vision and reproduction. However vitamin E also helps with the health of your blood, skin, and even your brain health. Make sure you’re taking care of your brain with this Vitamin E Supplement here.

Vitamin K

Vitamin K helps to make proteins that facilitate blood clotting when you get a cut, improving insulin sensitivity (reducing the risk of type II Diabetes), as well as bone health. However, if you’re already diabetic, talk to your doctor before taking any supplements that might conflict with your current treatments. Here are some quality Vitamin K Supplements.

Selenium

Selenium plays a critical role in metabolism and Thyroid function, as well as the ability to (in some cases) slow age related mental decline. See if this is something for you with your doctor/ physician. Here is a quality Selenium Supplement.

Diet

The first step in a program of healthy diet is choosing a good variety of food that will meet your nutritional needs. Give attention to eating nutrient-rich foods. Vegetables and fruits are excellent sources of vitamins and minerals; they are also low in fat and calories. Foods rich in fiber are also excellent sources of nutrition. Furthermore, if you are prone to health problems because of poor nutrition, you may need to eat more vegetables than usual. Consider foods that are rich in antioxidants and good nutrients include fruits and vegetables.

Conclusion

Men’s health is something that a lot of guys don’t take too seriously. It goes beyond just looking good though, fundamentally it will improve your entire attitude about life. I don’t want to make it sound as easy as taking a supplement, because climbing out of that hole is hard. However supplements can help you bridge the gap where it matters. Do whatever you can to hold the line by eating healthy, exercising, making sure you getting micronutrients, and working on side projects in your life; Go out and get some.
